What is Process Technology?

Process industries include oil refineries, chemical manufacturers, food processors, and the power generating industry. They make up the largest segment of the manufacturing base in Will and Grundy counties.

How Much Can I Expect to Earn?

Entry level technicians can expect to earn $40,000 plus per year. Experienced personnel average over $80,000 annually with excellent comprehensive benefits.

Where Are The Jobs?

Over the next five years, area industry will experience a loss of over 40 percent of their existing workforce due to retirement. This maturing of the workforce will create over 100 annual openings at our top manufacturing plants for qualified operators and instrumentation technicians.

Enter the Process Technology industry with a two-year degree from Joliet Junior College

Joliet Junior College has developed a new associate degree in applied science to address the needs of the process industries.

The new program consists of 64 credit hours which include courses in physics, chemistry, and technical math, as well as, courses in computer software packages, safety, HAZMAT, and electrical wiring and circuit design. Additionally, seven new courses were developed specifically for this degree. The new courses focus on mechanical skills, equipment and systems, quality, and operations and process troubleshooting.

This industry supported A.A.S. degree program will prepare you for a career in the process industries.
