Seminar Location: Seminar is held at Joliet Junior College’s Main Campus, Room T-1050, 1215 Houbolt Road, Joliet, Illinois.
Seminar Description: This workshop is designed to train those who are responsible for operating and maintaining 600 volts or less electrical equipment on the requirements of the Electricity Act, Regulations and Codes of Practice. The workshop simplifies the OSHA Electrical standard and criteria and specifically addresses safe work practices to be used during the operation and maintenance of electrical equipment. Compliance is met for 29 CFR 1910.269 (Electrical Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution).
You will learn Safety Practices Related to the Following OSHA Regulations
- How to identify hazards to the safety of personnel working on or near energized equipment.
- How to identify and use the appropriate electrical protective equipment when working on energized equipment.
- What safety procedures must be followed when performing maintenance on energized electrical equipment.
- What the requirements of Part 1 of subpart “R” of 1910.269 are and how to apply them.

Your instructor Jerry Raino is a member of the technical department at Joliet Junior College. He has been an instructor in the Electrical/Electronic Automated Systems program since 1984. He is also an journeyman electrician. Jerry has a B.S. in Vocational Education from Southern Illinois University and a M.S. in Instructional Technology from Northern Illinois University. He is also the co-author of a training manual, Industrial Motors, published by Energy Concepts (1991).
