Medical Billing and Coding

Exam Preparation Classes:

CCS Exam Preparation Class (MREC 430)
Now on Saturday for your convenience – the boss will never know you’re studying for a better job! Assess your coding skills and prepare for the exam. Participants will review their expertise in ICD-9-CM as well as the surgery section within the CPT coding system, review medical terminology, disease processes, pharmacology and health-care reimbursement.

CCS-P Exam Preparation Class (MREC 431)
Now on Saturday for your convenience – the boss will never know you’re studying for a better job! Assess you coding skills and prepare for the exam. Participants will review the CPT coding system, plus assess their familiarity with the ICD-9-CM and HCPCS Level II coding system. Medical terminology, disease processes, pharmacology, and health care reimbursement are also covered.

CCA Exam Preparation Class (MREC 434)
Now on Saturday for your convenience – the boss will never know you’re studying for a better job! This class is specifically designed for new coders preparing for the exam. Participants will review for the Certified Coding Associate test offered by the American Health Information Management Association.

Coding Review Seminars:

Introduction to ICD-9-CM Coding for Physicians Offices and Ambulatory Care Centers (MREC 425)
Review updates for ICD-9-CM codes effective in October. Participants learn to code a patient’s diagnoses, conditions and services accurately and completely. Medical records professionals need detailed knowledge of coding systems in order to secure prompt payment for services rendered and to satisfy the needs of third-party payers.

ICD-9-CM Coding Update for Hospitals (MREC 436)
Review updates for ICD-9-CM codes effective in October. Participants will gain knowledge to accurately and completely code hospital services that meet the information needs of health care facilities or providers and third-party payers. Prerequisite: Experience with ICD-9 coding.

ICD-9-CM Coding Update for Physicians (MREC 426)
Review updates for ICD-9-CM codes effective in October. Participants will gain knowledge to accurately and completely code physician services to meet the information needs of health care facilities or providers and third-party payers. Prerequisite: Experience with ICD-9 coding.

Introduction to CPT-4: Coding for Physicians’ Offices and Ambulatory Care Centers (MREC 4250)
Participants will learn to completely and accurately code patients’ procedures and services by learning the essentials of CPT coding and official coding guidelines. The class will include a review of basic CPT-4 conversions, rules, the Alphabetic Index and Tabular list.

CPT Coding for Ambulatory Surgery and Outpatient Procedures (MREC 420)
Participants learn to accurately and completely code ambulatory surgery and outpatient procedures to meet the information needs of health care facilities or providers and third-party payers. Experience with CPT coding is preferred.
